Thunderstorms bring out a different side of us. Sometimes a storm makes people want to cuddle up by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book. Other times, we get the urge to run around outside and let the rain and wind wash over us—to be cleansed and restored by nature. The stormy outer sections are contrasted by a calm middle section which allows for a bit of solace among the wildness of the thunder—a flicker of sunshine that cuts through the dense clouds.

While listening to or performing this piece, imagine yourself letting go and dancing in a thunderstorm with total abandon. Let the sounds you hear feel like heavy rain washing over you. Let it be invigorating, rejuvenating, or whatever you choose to make of it.
